Writer: Agata ChmieleckaAgata Chmielecka

As the winter chill blankets Mongolia, Erdenesiin Khuree Mongolian Calligraphy and Art Center has temporarily closed its doors for the season. But the spirit of Mongolian calligraphy is far from dormant! Our founder and master calligrapher, Tamir Samandbadraa Purev, as he does each winter, has embarked on a vibrant European tour, spreading the beauty and tradition of this unique art form.

From December 2024 to February 2025, Tamir has conducted engaging workshops at several locations: Atelier Marie Thivrier in Montluçon; Médiathèque Jean Jaurès de Nevers; La Fabrique des arts, Bourbon-l'Archambault; Die, Drôme; Beaujolais; Vichy; Moulins. And the journey continues! Participants explored the nuances of Mongolian calligraphy and the meditative creative technique of ink and brush on paper under Tamir's expert guidance, creating their own stunning pieces.

Tamir is currently preparing a new exhibition that promises to be a highlight of the summer season. Mark your calendars for June, when his work will be showcased at the Espace d'Art Contemporain, La galerie municipale des Voûtes du Port, quai Amiral Meyer in Royan, France.  This exhibition is sure to be a breathtaking display of Mongolian calligraphy and a testament to Tamir's dedication to his craft.
