Multidisciplinary residency / Program Overview

The Erdenesiin Khuree Mongolian Calligraphy and Art Center offers a unique art residency program designed to foster artistic exploration and cross-cultural exchange. Residents will be immersed in the rich artistic heritage of Mongolia, with opportunities to engage with traditional calligraphy techniques, learn from experienced calligraphers, and draw inspiration from the stunning natural landscapes and vibrant nomadic culture.

Program Highlights:

  • Dedicated workspace: Individual creative space in an authentic Mongolian yurt.

  • Access to resources: Use of the Center's tools and materials (specific resources may vary; please inquire for details).

  • Cultural immersion: Interactions with the local community, providing in-depth exposure to Mongolian culture and life.

  • Networking opportunities: Connect and collaborate with fellow artists and build valuable relationships within the Mongolian art community.

  • Exhibition opportunity: Showcase your work in a culminating exhibition or event at the Center.

  • Visa support: Assistance with obtaining a visa for up to three months.

  • Grant/Subsidy assistance: The Center will support applying for grants or subsidies to help fund your residency.

Residency Duration:

Residencies are available for a minimum of one month and a maximum of three months between May and October. Only one residency is available at a time. Please contact us for available dates.

Eligibility:

This residency program is open to emerging and established artists from all disciplines, including but not limited to: Calligraphers/ Painters/ Sculptors/ Photographers / Writers/ Musicians/ Performance Artists/ Digital Artists

​

We encourage artists whose work demonstrates a genuine interest in exploring Mongolian calligraphy, culture, or history to apply.

​

Fees and Expenses:

  • A daily fee of $30 USD covers basic accommodation and studio space at the Center.

  • Residents are responsible for covering their personal expenses, travel, food, and art materials.

  • Individualized support: The Center recognizes that each artist's project and needs are unique.  We provide practical assistance in securing funding for your residency, including help with preparing the necessary grant application documents.  We can also discuss adjusting fees and accommodation arrangements to meet your specific needs.

Application Process:

To apply, please submit the following materials:

  • Completed application form [link to application form]

  • Current CV/resume

  • Art portfolio

  • Statement of intent outlining your proposed project during the residency and its connection to Mongolian calligraphy or culture

Selection Process:

Applications will be reviewed by Erdenesiin Khuree's team. Selection will be based on artistic merit, the feasibility of the proposed project, and the applicant's potential to contribute to the artistic community.
